General Osteopathy (adult)

Osteopathy is a holistic approach to healthcare that focuses on how your body's structure – your bones, muscles, ligaments, and connective tissues – influences how it functions. Osteopaths are highly trained healthcare professionals who use a variety of techniques to help relieve pain, reduce stiffness, and improve mobility.

What to Expect

When you come for an osteopathy appointment, we'll take the time to understand your individual needs and health history. Treatment may involve gentle hands-on techniques such as:

  • Massage to release muscle tension

  • Articulation to improve joint movement

  • Manipulation to restore joint function

  • Stretching to lengthen tight muscles

We also provide personalised advice on posture, exercise, and lifestyle to help you manage your condition and prevent future problems.

Postnatal Osteopathy/ Mummy MOT®

Maite offers dedicated postnatal assessments to support your recovery after childbirth—whether you had a vaginal or caesarean delivery. These appointments are designed to assess how your posture, core, abdominal muscles, and pelvic floor are healing and functioning.

Many women experience muscle weakness or separation (commonly known as diastasis recti) after pregnancy. In fact, up to 50% notice issues with their abdominal and pelvic floor strength, and around a third still have a gap in their tummy muscles eight weeks after giving birth. This can lead to symptoms like back or pelvic pain, bladder or bowel issues, and reduced core strength.

These issues are common—but they’re not something you just have to live with. Whether you’ve recently had a baby or gave birth years ago, we’re here to help.

Expert Postnatal Support

Maïté Delafin is trained and licensed to carry out the Mummy MOT®, having studied with some of the UK’s leading pelvic health physiotherapists, Maria Eliott and Hannah Poulton. Her focus is on helping you return to full, functional movement—because life as a mum involves lifting, bending, and carrying every day!

You’ll receive tailored clinical care, along with effective, practical exercises to support your recovery—no matter how long ago you gave birth.

Your appointment includes:

  • A full postural screening

  • Pelvic floor muscle assessment

  • Abdominal exam to check for muscle separation

  • Screening for any bladder, bowel, or sexual dysfunction

Pediatric Osteopathy

Gentle, Personalised Care for Babies, Children & Young People

Maite provides gentle, effective care tailored to the unique needs of babies, children, and teenagers. Treatment often combines gentle manual techniques with expert advice—and, for older children, simple exercises to support progress at home.

We don’t follow a one-size-fits-all method. Every child is different, and so is every treatment plan. We always adapt our approach to suit their age, needs, and comfort.

For Babies

Muscle tension can affect babies in a variety of ways—making it uncomfortable to feed or settle, or causing them to favour one side when lying down. These subtle signs can sometimes lead to discomfort or restlessness.

Using gentle, hands-on techniques, our osteopaths aim to ease tension and support your baby’s natural development. With a combination of treatment, reassurance, and practical advice, many parents notice their baby becomes calmer, more comfortable, and easier to settle.

For Children & Young People

We treat children of all ages with a range of common conditions, from growing pains to musculoskeletal strains. Depending on the issue, we may recommend simple home exercises alongside hands-on treatment, always explaining everything clearly and kindly.

If we believe your child would benefit more from medical advice or specialist care, we’ll refer you to your GP or another healthcare provider to ensure they receive the best possible support.

C-section/ Abdominal Recovery & Scar Therapy

Available from 6 to 8 weeks post-surgery—and it’s never too late to start. Even older scars can benefit from treatment.

C-section/ Abdominal scar therapy helps to gently mobilise tissue to support natural healing and reduce the risk of adhesions. This can ease symptoms like numbness, tightness, swelling, sensitivity, and associated pain (including pelvic, hip, or back discomfort).

Scar therapy can also help with cosmetic appearance and promote more comfortable, functional movement.

Maïté Delafin is a specialist in C-section/ Abdominal scar therapy having trained with UK’s leading specialists Emma Holly at Restore Scar Therapy and Hannah Polton at HLP therapy

Pregnancy Osteopathy: Supporting You Through Change

Pregnancy is a time of incredible transformation, and your body adapts in many ways to accommodate your growing baby. It's common for women to experience changes such as the softening of ligaments, weight increase, and postural changes. These changes can sometimes lead to general aches and pains, including joint, back, or pelvic pain.

Osteopathy offers gentle and supportive care that may help your body adapt to these changes.

During an antenatal osteopathic appointment, we will:

  • Take a thorough case history to understand your specific needs and any discomfort you may be experiencing.

  • Use gentle, hands-on techniques which may include massage, articulation, and stretching to help relieve tension and improve mobility.

  • Provide advice on posture, movement, and self-care to support you throughout your pregnancy.

Our aim is to help you feel as comfortable and mobile as possible, allowing you to enjoy this special time. Osteopathy is a gentle treatment suitable for pregnant women, and we will always adapt our approach to ensure your safety and comfort.
